These ruins were the second stop in my southeast Asia trip in 2024. Just a two-hour bus ride from the heart of Bangkok, the ancient ruins of this former capital offer a quiet, historical contrast to the city’s nonstop energy. I arrived early in the morning to catch the temples in soft light—and with hardly anyone else around. What stood out most to me, though, was capturing the people who quietly care for these temples—keeping them clean, safe, and standing for others to appreciate.
